Ban on registration of diesel vehicles: Tata Motors moves green tribunal
Delhi state Transport Department has declined to enlist medium and overwhelming business diesel vehicles refering to NGT orders, organization says
Tata Motors Limited today moved the National Green Tribunal (NGT) looking for elucidation on whether there was any boycott in Delhi on enrollment of medium and substantial business diesel vehicles as per its two requests.
The organization asserted before the NGT that Delhi Government's Transport Department has declined to enlist medium and substantial business diesel vehicles in the "appearance" of two requests went by it on December 11, 2015 and January 6 this year, which was creating "grave preference" on its right side to bear on business exercises.
The green board had on December 11 a year ago coordinated that no new diesel vehicle, and diesel vehicles which were over 10-years of age, would be enrolled in the National Capital Region till the following date of hearing.
Later, on January 6 this year, the NGT had said that since the matter identifying with air contamination in Delhi was pending in the Supreme Court, it would not pass any bearings in such manner at this stage.
In its application recorded before a seat headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar, Tata Motors Ltd said that on December 16 a year ago, the Supreme Court had coordinated that enrollment of diesel-run SUVs and private autos with motor limit of 2000cc or more would be banned in the NCR till March 31.
"The candidate presents that grave preference is being brought on its right side to bear on its business exercises by the refusal of the Department of Transport, Government of NCT, Delhi, to enlist medium and substantial business diesel vehicles in the pretense of the two requests dated December 11, 2015 and January 6, 2016 that have been passed by this Tribunal," the application said.
The tribunal would hear the matter on August 24.
In the mean time, amid the day's listening to, the tribunal permitted a request by driving car producer Toyota for impleading it as a gathering in the matter identifying with air contamination in Delhi and prohibition on diesel vehicles.
