Captain Virat Kohli termed his group's win over the West Indies in the main Test a "complete execution" and held exceptional acclaim for Mohammed Shami, who denoted his arrival to the five-day position after a long damage cutback with four first-innings wickets.

India stamped their power as Ravichandran Ashwin returned amazing figures of 7/83 to bowl out the West Indies for 231 and indent up a record innings and 92-run win on Monday.

"Stunning, I didn't realize that," Kohli said when informed this was India's greatest win outside Asia, before including, "Just feels great to get a win on the board, constantly great to begin well. Great planning time, for three weeks. Everybody was energized, we'd enough practice. It was a finished execution."

Kohli underlined on the need to score runs rapidly to go for a win.

"Scoring wasn't simple, at first West Indies knocked down some pins well. A few their bowlers surged us, 70-odd for 2 with five batsmen, needed to assume liability. Shikhar was playing truly well and I needed to be sure, on the off chance that you need to win a Test you need to score rapidly and get the bowlers an opportunity to bowl the restriction out twice."

"At that point Ashwin played a splendid innings down the request, it was a group batting execution. In case we're playing five batsmen, we needed to extend the request. We had Saha at No. 7 and Ashwin was sufficient to bat at No. 6. He was an immaculate batsman before he turned into an off-spinner."

As to crease bowlers, he said, "Ishant knocked down some pins well without good fortune. Shami and Umesh were extraordinary. They way they knocked down some pins on a wicket like this, they surged the batsmen. Somebody like Shami, after surgery to return and substantiate himself. He's a flawless Test bowler, hits those impeccable conveyances to get batsmen out."
