The bowmen entered the quarterfinals in the wake of battling past Colombia yet later lost to Russia.

The Indian ladies' arrow based weaponry group advanced to the quarter-finals before losing to Russia in a shoot-off and made its way out while the hockey squad battled back to hold Japan to a draw on day two of the Rio Games on late Sunday night.

In the shooting range, 22-year-old Heena Sidhu failed alongside men trap shooters Manavjit Singh Sandhu and Kynan Chenai who completed seventeenth and nineteenth separately after the primary day.

The ladies' arrow based weaponry group of Laishram Bombayla Devi, Laxmirani Majhi and Deepika Kumari made the quarters of the recurve occasion by beating Colombia 5-3.

This was the first run through the ladies bowmen had progressed to cycle two after their poor showcase in London four years back when Denmark expelled them in cycle one. Bombayla and Deepika were a piece of that group.

The trio then went head to head against 2012 Games semifinalists Russia, bobbed back subsequent to losing the opening set before the two groups level-pegged to drive the sudden death round in which the Russian ladies demonstrated better nerves even as the Indian trio lost the plot to lose it 23-25 and be dispensed with.

Battle against Colombia

India kept itself in the chase in the group occasion of ladies' bows and arrows as the trio of Laxmirani Majhi, Bombayla Devi and Deepika Kumari turned fortunate in the disposal 1/32 phase match against Colombia on Sunday.

The group won 5-3.

The Indians will feel diminished, particularly Deepika and Bombayla, who were a piece of the group that lost to Denmark in the opening round at the 2012 London Games.

The trio of Deepika, Bombayla and Laxmirani were not taking care of business, but rather figured out how to beat a much more unpredictable Colombian group.

The two groups were on level at 3-3 after initial three sets and the defining moment came in the last set.

Requiring 28 focuses off the last three bolts to overwhelm India's aggregate of 52, Colombian bowman Caroline Aguirre lost control and the misled bolt got her exclusive three focuses, much to the help of the Indian camp.

The Indians won the set 52-44, getting the vital two focuses for winning the set and taking an unassailable 5-3 lead.

Be that as it may, it wasn't an extraordinary execution from the Indian young ladies as they could hit the ideal 10 just twice — Bombayla in the principal set and Deepika in the third.

Poor begin

Deepika, India's greatest trust in toxophilism, was not in her component as she began ineffectively, hitting a 7 with the last bolt of the primary set which India figured out how to win by a point.

The Jharkhand young lady played out no better in the second set, striking a few 7s, yet discovered structure in the last two sets, where she hit a 10 alongside three bolts which brought 9 each. Bombayla was the most predictable, with a solitary 8 pointer, five shots of 9 and an immaculate 10.

In spite of the fact that it was not a noteworthy execution, India made its first-ever passage into the round of last eight.

India will meet Russia in the last-eight stage.
