With a mean to plant 10 lakh saplings this budgetary year, the Delhi government's Environment and Forest Department observed Van Mahotsav on Friday.
Planting around 2,000 saplings at Shastri Park's Bela Farm, Ministers, authorities and school understudies, denoted the month-long "greening" celebration that started on July 15.
The Environment and Forest Department's objective for 2016-17 is 10 lakh new saplings and five lakh bushes.
Month-long activity
Environment and Forest Minister Imran Hussain said the month-long activity will incorporate day by day manor drives over the city. He said the office had collaborated with the Tourism Department to do the drive.
The saplings decided for the activity incorporate neem , jamun , amla, and so on.
Talking at the occasion, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra proposed a ranch drive at his voting demographic, Karawal Nagar, on Sunday.
The drive at Bela Farm was completed over a zone of 20 hectares, in lieu of trees chop down for the development of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's Vinod Nagar terminal. Around 34,000 saplings will be planted at the site.
The rest of the 12 hectares of Bela Farm will be utilized to plant saplings to make up for trees that have been felled after consent was conceded under the Delhi (Preservation) of Trees Act, 1994.
In the mean time, understudies of Little Flower Public Senior Secondary School, Shahdara, and Rukmini Devi Public School, Pitampura, introduced a drama to highlight a few ecological concerns and the significance of trees.
